For this project, I illustrated a scene from Irish Mythology, specifically, the Book of Invasions, and the section focused on the Tuatha De Danann, a tribe of gods from the Otherworld that invaded Ireland early in its history.
The Tuatha De Danann arrive in Ireland in giant black clouds that land in the mountains and bring three days and nights of darkness.
βIt is God who suffered them, though He restrained them
they landed with horror, with lofty deed,
in their cloud of mighty combat of spectres,
upon a mountain of Conmaicne of Connacht.
Without distinction to discerning Ireland,
Without ships, a ruthless course
the truth was not known beneath the sky of stars,
whether they were of heaven or of earth.β
